Baby Diet by Age:

0–6 Months: Exclusive Breastfeeding or Formula Feeding

  • Breast milk or infant formula provides all necessary nutrients.

  • Feed on demand (usually every 2–3 hours).

  • No solid foods or water needed yet.

Around 6 Months: Introduction to Solids

  • Continue breastfeeding/formula alongside solids.

  • Start with iron-fortified single-grain cereals (like rice or oatmeal).

  • Pureed vegetables (carrots, sweet potatoes), fruits (apples, pears, bananas).

  • Introduce one new food at a time, waiting 3–5 days to watch for allergies.

6–8 Months:

  • Gradually add pureed meats (chicken, beef) and legumes (lentils, beans).

  • Offer mashed or soft fruits and veggies.

  • Introduce small amounts of water in a sippy cup.

8–10 Months:

  • Start offering finger foods like soft-cooked veggies, small pieces of fruit, cheese, or toast.

  • Include a variety of protein sources, grains, fruits, and vegetables.

  • Continue breast milk/formula.

10–12 Months:

  • Baby can eat most family foods (soft and cut into small pieces).

  • Encourage self-feeding with finger foods.

  • Continue breastfeeding/formula until at least 12 months.
